Founded OEHS in 2024
OEHS was founded in 2024 by Lyna Vanjah, OTR/L, a Towson University graduate with a BS/MS degree in Occupational Therapy. With over 16 years of clinical experience, Ms. Vanjah has served individuals with various diseases and disabilities across multiple healthcare settings.
Throughout her career, she has developed unparalleled expertise in identifying barriers within clients' homes and providing solutions — including home modifications, adaptive equipment, durable medical equipment, and assistive technologies — that improve independence as individuals navigate their disability journey.
As a passionate advocate for adults with disabilities, Ms. Vanjah's goal is to support individuals with developmental disabilities in living lives as diverse and enriching as those of others in their communities.
Clinical Experience Settings
OEHS's mission is to inspire and enable adults of all ages with disabilities to experience optimal occupational performance within their own context and continue to live more independently and safely while participating in their activities of daily living and the tasks that they enjoy.
OEHS strives to identify barriers and obstacles to function while providing solutions that will improve safety and accessibility with reduced fall risks and reduced caregiver burden — enabling individuals to remain in their homes, promote successful aging, and eliminate the need to transition into a nursing home or assisted living facility.
OEHS works closely with support planners, case managers, individuals, their families, and caregivers in their homes and communities to create optimal plans that assist them in navigating and remaining in their home.
OEHS follows the Person-Environment-Occupation (PEO) model, which emphasizes that occupational performance is shaped by the dynamic interaction between three interdependent domains.
The individual's unique roles, values, experiences, and capabilities that shape their occupational performance.
Physical, cultural, institutional, social, and socio-economic environments that influence daily functioning and independence.
The meaningful activities, tasks, and roles that individuals engage in throughout their daily lives.
OEHS views the PEO model as both an assessment tool to understand and analyze problematic areas in the environment that affect our clients' occupational performance, and as an intervention tool to improve clients' occupational performance. We believe that individuals can reach their highest occupational performance in their own context with the right environmental modifications.
